About this Product:

Some tea growers in Assam make their tea using a wooden rice-pounding 'dheki'. This tea is made using no electricity, just human effort and sunshine. The resulting tea produces a strong, rich cup and is perfect to blend in with punchy spices like cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves.

Origin: Assam, India

Serving Tips: Use 1 heaping teaspoon for 500ml of boiling water. Let it steep for 4 minutes.

These mangoes are naturally sweet and flavorful because they are free from sulfites and preservatives. Level Ground's dried fruit comes to us from a Fair Trade organization in Colombia called Fruandes. Fruandes purchases fresh fruit from small-scale farmers and employs women to hand cut, dry and package the fruit.

About this Product:

Level Ground Trading purchase coffee from the Fero Co-op of the Sidama Coffee Farmers’ Union. The co-op has approximately 3000 member farmers.  The co-op has 3 washing stations several km apart, and 11 buying posts for purchase of cherries. All of the cherries are processed at the three co-op washing stations. Processed coffee is sent via truck to Addis for milling and grading, and then is sent to the port of Djibouti, which is a 600 km drive from Addis.

Direct Fair Trade Premiums: Premiums for tea go entirely to the labourers and the decision as to what the money put towards is determined by the labourers in an open meeting. Historically, premiums have gone towards water filtration for each home and piglets to raise and sell for profit.

Level Ground trades with Coffee Management Services (CMS) in Tanzania. CMS operates the HOPE Organize project, where farmers are paid a fair price for red cherries collected at stations call Central Pulpery Units. Once collected, CMS then mills, sorts, and transports the coffee for export.

CAC Pangoa is a long established co-operative with 680 farmer members who grow coffee, cacao and also produce honey. The organic coffee Level Ground purchases from CAC Pangoa is grown by the Machiguenga First Nation people.
