Hope’s Gate offers practical, life-giving hope to orphans, victims of human trafficking and the world’s most vulnerable. Our primary project at this time is our jewelry-making project. We send volunteer teams that train young women rescued out of human trafficking and teens at high risk of exploitation to make beautiful jewelry. Each young woman receives a fair wage for the jewelry and accessories they make, enabling them to save for the time in which they must leave the shelter they are living in. Hope’s Gate sells the handmade products in order to raise awareness and funds to break the cycle of exploitation and hopelessness.

In India alone, 200 young girls a day are sold into sexual  slavery. It’s estimated that 80% are sold by their own families.  (Human Trafficking Handbook for Investigators; Bureau of Police Research & Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, March 2007)
