Haiti Made was initially born out of the basic need to create jobs for young adults transitioning out of long-term orphan care from the Hands and Feet Project in Haiti. We soon realized the need to expand this vision and began to employ other Haitians in the community such as unemployed mothers and artisans, so that a significant difference could be made toward orphan prevention and the economic recovery of the nation.
Charity has its place and purpose, but we have found that when buying great products made by the people of Haiti, we enter into a meaningful exchange with them that brings lasting respect, hope and dignity.
That is what Haiti Made is all about.
Haiti is a country that has been defined by extreme poverty, joblessness and entitlement.
It is our mission to unite around quality products, economic sustainability, & dignified jobs to fight against Haiti's orphan and child slavery crisis.
